Our county and our families are in the middle of a crisis. We are being served dangerous GMO food, and most food manufacturers are working over time to keep Americans in the dark. There is no question that Genetically Modified Food is dangerous. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) urges physicians to educate their patients. Human studies have shown that  genes inserted into these foods can transfer permanently into humans. The toxins produced by GMO corn, for example, has been found lurking in the blood of unborn fetuses.


Since GMO food was introduced, the percentage of Americans with chronic illness has increased, food allergies have become insanely common, rates of children with autism and ADHD are skyrocketing, and many other conditions, from digestive disorders to reproductive disorders seem out of control.


We all need to stop consuming GMO food, and we need to do it now. Furthermore, we need to keep this stuff away from our children, whose small and growing bodies are especially vulnerable.


Feeling overwhelmed by it all? I know I was. This is why I am sharing the following easy tips to help us all avoid GMO. It is a non-gmo shopping guide.


Know the At-Risk Ingredients


If you cannot verify that a food product is non-gmo, look to see if it contains at-risk ingredients, that is, food that has a high probability of being genetically modified. Here is a list of at-risk ingredients to avoid when you don’t know the source:

  • Sugar (possibly made from GM sugar beets)
  • Corn
  • Soy or soybeans
  • Canola
  • Cottonseed
  • Papaya
  • Zucchini and yellow squash (the smallest risk in the list)


Also avoid milk from cows injected with GMO growth hormone. Look for hormone-free milk.


Buy Certified Organic Products


Food products that are labeled 100 percent organic cannot intentionally include GMO ingredients. Some labels will make it clear that it contains no GMO ingredients. Read the labels.


Insist on Non-GMO Food Storage


Many of us relax our standards when it come to food storage. This is a bad idea. when you are in the middle of an emergency, the last thing you want to have to live on is Genetically Modified Food. It may be a fight to the death, and the survivors will be the ones with healthy bodies and healthy minds. Many convenience foods, from processed snacks to baking mixes contain GMO ingredients. Cooking from scratch can help eliminate the bulk of these toxins from your diet.
