Is the end near? Like September 13, 2015 kinda near? Legions of The Harbinger fans believe we should all be preparing for the date that is looming on the calendar. The best-selling book written by pastor and rabbi Jonathan Cahn details the nine harbingers, or omens, that he feels indicate an end-of-times scenario.
The connection Cahn feels exists between the ancient kingdom of Israel and modern-day America is at the very basis of his doomsday predictions. As the Bible states, the ancient northern kingdom of Israel was created around 930 B.C. after the United Monarchy of Israel refused to accept Solomon’s son, Rehoboam, as the new king of the land. Both Israel and Damascus were victims of an Assyrian raid; their lands were annexed after the battle. Several years later, the same Assyrian king raided ancient Israel again, deporting 10 tribes (known as the Ten Lost Tribes) after destroying the kingdom. Cahn believes that both the ancient kingdom and the modern United States were both chosen by God or founded upon the rules of God, linking them as the only two nations ever based upon such principles.
The Harbinger author also points to economic collapse incidents and the September 11, 2001 attacks as events that coordinate with the Elul calendar dates, on which dates similar destruction happened to the ancient kingdom of Israel. Cahn contends that the Dow Jones Industrial Average downturn on September 17, 2001, and September 29, 2008 are harbingers of an impending economic collapse.
He has also stated both economic fluctuations happened on the same exact date on the Hebrew calendar — the 29th of Elul. According to The Harbinger the Dow Jones dip occurred during the Shemitah, “a Sabbath year observed every seven years in Judaism, in which the land isn’t cultivated and debts are cancelled. On August 24, 2015, the stock market dropped 500 points moments after opening and dipped down 1,000 points not long after. By the end of the trading day, the market calmed a bit and ended 588 points down.
Doomsday preppers, Cahn readers, and even some financial experts have been worried about what September 13, 2015 will bring for the past several years. That same date will be the next Elul 29 of a Shemitah year. The Shemitah year begins on the evening of September 24, 2014. September 25 is Rosh Hashanah, Tishrei 1 of the Jewish year 5775.
While the whole year is considered Shemitah, Jonathan Cahn notes in The Mystery of the Shemitah that “it is at the Shemitah’s end (September 13, 2015) and its wake that the most dramatic repercussions are felt.”
During an interview with the Examiner, Cahn was asked if he believed that September 13, 2015 would be the exact date that another judgment from God or “shaking” would occur.
“I haven’t been led to be dogmatic concerning what may or may not happen, but I think it’s wise to keep our eyes open,” Cahn said.”Nothing significant has to happen. The phenomenon may manifest itself in one cycle, not in another, and then again in the next. And the focus of the message is not date-setting but the call of God to repentance and return. At the same time, something of significance could take place, and it is wise to note the times.”
The Harbinger author aptly points out that stock market trading will not happen on September 13, 2015 because it is a Sunday. Cahn also points out that the second of two solar eclipses of the year will occur on that potentially fateful day in September. The first solar eclipse happened on March 20, 2015.
Jonathan Cahn feels that “there is the possibility of a trigger event that takes place outside the time of the markets’ openings that could bring about a market collapse – as in the case of 9/11.”
The last day of stock market trading before Elul 29 will be on September 11, 2015. The terrorism attacks in 2001 were the first harbingers, according to Cahn. “The Breach,” the first harbinger, happened when Al-Qaeda terrorists flew two planes into the World Trade Center buildings, a field in Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon, the rabbi/pastor says. As with ancient Israel, Cahn says America breached a covenant with God and lost his protection leading up to the terror attack on our very own soil.
The second harbinger, “The terrorist” also parallels the destruction of ancient Israel and the 9/11 terror attacks, according to the author. Both the Assyrian attackers of the northern kingdom of Israel and the Al-Qaeda terrorists were all “Semitic” people of the Middle East.
The third harbinger relates to falling bricks, as previously noted in an eFoodsDirect report.
“Visibly falling bricks surely occurred as we all watched in horror on 9/11. No one who flipped on any news station that could has likely forgotten the feeling in the pit of their stomach when they saw the second plane circling around the World Trade Center.”
“The Tower” harbinger as detailed in Cahn’s best-seller, states that after the attack on ancient Israel, the leaders and people of the land vowed to repent from their sins but did not. They also vowed to rebuild the destroyed structures in the kingdom, making then even stronger in a demonstration of their power and resilience. Ground Zero was ultimately rebuilt as well, with similar statements made during a heartfelt show of patriotism and strength from both citizens and leaders of a wounded but not beaten nation.
The Fifth Harbinger – The Gazit Stone
“The ancient Israelites carved mountain stone into rock and carried it to the site where the destruction of the Assyrians had occurred, where clay bricks had once stood. Three years after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, a 20-ton quarried rock was placed as a cornerstone of the new Ground Zero building. During a ceremony to commemorate the cornerstone placement, then governor George Pataki said, ‘Today, we, the heirs of that revolutionary spirit of defiance, lay this cornerstone and unmistakably signal to the world the unwavering strength of this nation and our resolve to fight for freedom.’ For some reason, the massive stone was ultimately removed from the World Trade Center site.”
The remaining four harbingers “The Sycamore,” “The Erez Tree,” “The Utterance,” and “The Prophecy.” All of the omens Cahn feels tie our modern world to the fall of ancient Israel are also linked to the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.
“No nation can defy the ways and will of Him who is its source of blessings and expect those blessings to continue,” The Harbinger author also wrote. “I believe a great shaking is coming to this nation and to the world. I believe that this shaking will involve economic and financial collapse, though it will not necessarily be confined or limited to those realms.”
