Situation Report
May 5, 2010

Wars, rumors of wars, Earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, droughts, famine, terrorism, diseases... Seems like prophesy buffs are having their heyday right now. Looking at the last 30 years of food issues, the urgency, now more than ever is for families to prepare with food for looming dangers ahead. Here are a few of the most important issues folks need to be aware of:

Icelandic Volcano

On Sunday March 21st, nearly all European countries were impacted by eruption of the Eyjafjallajoekull ("glacier of island-mountain") Volcano in Southern Iceland. Air travel was halted, current flights diverted, and roads were closed. Food transportation to most of Europe was virtually stopped.

Most people solely depend on food being at their local grocery store, without any consideration for the factors, which could have a devastating effect on supply such as storms, natural disasters, drought, oil prices and more. Today, the vast majority of us have little or no control over our food supply, which is something we must change. More...

The Food Safety Modernization Act

This bill (S. 510) currently awaiting a senate vote, will require annual registration of all U.S. food facilities, as well as increase the amount of federal oversight and control. It would give the FDA the power to quarantine any part of America's farmland and food production. Associated with these added fees and oversight will come increased food costs. More...

Weed-killer Resistant Weeds

Weed-killer resistant weeds may force changes in farming practices that will, along with fuel cost issues, skyrocket food costs in the United States. More...

Oil Spill in the Golf

The oil rig disaster in the Gulf and the shutting down of offshore drilling will create serious transport and food chain problems. More...

Summary

Food must be stored because the times right now are more uncertain than ever before. With the recent economic crash, bailouts, increased U.S. debt, and unscrupulous activities by Wall Street, trust and relations between countries are at all time lows. There is no way to predict the next act of aggression, economic crash, recession, depression, or natural disaster. The only thing we can do is be prepared for anything by having enough food stored while we're still able to get it.

Consider where we are headed. Think about the outcome of future events and what the cost might be if you ignore today's warning signals and fail to plan for the worst possible outcome. By storing food right now you can save money - and if disaster strikes you can save your family's lives. Can you afford to be wrong?
